Dear Bulldogs Players and Families,
I wanted to share a special moment with our Bulldog community.
This Thursday, former Bulldog goaltender Jacob Fowler --- a Melbourne, Florida native --- will make his first NHL start against the Pittsburgh Penguins. A local kid from our area, who once wore the Bulldog crest and guarded the net just like many of our goalies do today, is now stepping onto the biggest stage in hockey.
What makes this moment even more powerful is who he'll be lining up against. Jacob will be facing players he grew up watching and admiring --- Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang, just to name a few. The same names many of our players see on TV, collect on cards, and model their game after.
That's what dreams turning into reality looks like.
Jacob's journey didn't happen by chance. It was built on commitment, discipline, resilience, and years of consistent work, especially during moments when progress wasn't easy or obvious. He stayed the course. He trusted the process. He kept showing up.
Here's the lesson for every Bulldog player:
Big dreams don't come from shortcuts --- they come from staying committed when it's hard.
It doesn't matter where you're from or what position you play. If you stay coachable, work with purpose, and embrace adversity, opportunities will come.
To our players:
Believe in your development and stay committed to the process.
To our parents:
Thank you for supporting your athletes through early mornings, long drives, tough days, and real sacrifice. Moments like this remind us why the journey matters.
We are incredibly proud of Jacob --- not only for reaching the NHL, but for representing our program, our community, and the Bulldog standard.
Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.
